Tamaulipan Ratsnakes
(Elaphe flavirufa flavirufa)
These blue-eyed ratsnakes originate in the State of Tamaulipas in northeastern Mexico. Tamaulipas is located just below of the tip of South Texas sandwiched in between the Gulf of Mexico, Nuevo Leon and San Luis Potosi. These attractive snakes have patterns similar to a corn snake having a reddish ground color and tan dorsal blotches bordered in black. Tamaulipan Ratsnakes are also known as Mexican Corn Snakes or Mexican Night Snakes. We are also working with the anerythristic morph of this beautiful animal and are torn as to which one is our favorite. Our stock is originally out of Jim Kane’s line of animals. Neat looking snakes!

Eastern Fox Snakes
(Elaphe vulpina gloydi)
For the past five years we have been assembling a breeding group of these fine north country ratsnakes. Hailing from the shores and wetlands surrounding the Lake Erie area these snakes are no longer legally for sale in their home range. As development encroaches into their selective habitats, the Eastern Fox snake natural populations have begun to diminish, resulting in their classification as a threatened species. Known to be tricky breeders in captivity, we are proud to say that 2003 has blessed us with success as our first clutch of bright white, fertile eggs was produced, a milestone here at Split Rock Reptiles. Our stock is primarily from the Sandusky area of Ohio. Eastern Fox snakes are mild mannered, full of earth tone color and a pleasure to hold and admire. They will always be one of our favorites.
